Save Trestles

Saving Trestles is an everyday thing.

Everyday there's no toll road to Trestles, we've Saved Trestles.
Everyday campers can enjoy the coastal serenity of San Mateo Campground we've saved that too. Everyday the pristine mountain  waters of San Mateo Creek flow 16 pure, unimpeded miles down to upper Trestles, we've saved something extraordinary. And everyday the mighty San Mateo Watershed's not paved over by a needless toll road few will ever use, we've saved southern California's last great, naturally perfect, intact coastal watershed – for one more glorious life giving day.

For 15 years Orange County's purveyor of toll road myth and misinformation - the TCA, have schemed to build a toll roadto Trestles – an easy build – no people. But roads are supposed to serve people. A Trestles toll road serves no true purpose. There are growing traffic needs elsewhere in the county, to the north. This website explores those possibilities. Someone has to, because by every measure of TCA's daily promise of less traffic -a better life - won't pollute - profitability - not one has come true.

Yes TCA's experimental concept-roads are in, and some folks do drive them. But overall traffic is worse, requiring TCA's star toll road to be transfused a billon-taxpayer-dollars just to stay alive. While our creeks, coastal waters and air become more polluted toll roads hold our freeways hostage in self-serving toll road legislation, stalling south county freeways in unfixable congestion. OC's toll road experiment - a freeway-alternative/test case, does rule our road - and our lives on every OC road, whether driving a freeway or boulevard.

Saving Trestles from arguably the least smart toll road yet – is smart environmentally, economically and mentally. Saving Trestles is a countywide concern from San Onofre State Park's Yosemite of surfing, east to the Cleveland National Forest, from Camp Pendleton north to LA's county line.

This website explores smart ways to plan our traffic, smart ways to develop our land, smart ways to not pollute more, while keeping OC vibrant. The place most folks would live, if they could. Orange County is an urban phenomenon – 2nd most crowded county in this most crowded of states, fast approaching a before unheard phrase– build-out. As in - no more room horizontally. Vertically, skies the limit.

Is OC destined to become the Manhattan Island of California? 42 years ago, OC was mostly agricultural. Now we're the most built-out. What will the next 42 years bring? How much can Orange County hold? Study this website carefully. It's a labor of love – for the love of this county and it's future. Saving Trestles is a factual, countywide, everyday necessity.
42 years from today, we'll all know why.
